The Marriage Ministry program at St. Joseph Church is intended to help couples grow in love for one another, and love for God through each other.
The next evening will be from 6:15 – 7:45 pm in the St. Joseph School cafeteria. We will also live-stream it on the parish Facebook page.
Upcoming evenings
Jan 21: Marriage Finances (Whose Money Is It Anyway?)
“Nothing will destroy our joy of loving Jesus as much as money” said Mother Teresa. She could have applied this to the joy of loving our spouses, as well. Money is often listed as the number one cause of tension in a marriage. The good news is that God has given us some straightforward direction and tools regarding our money which, when embraced, will actually strengthen our marriages. We’ll talk about this good news and how we can use it to manage our finances in a way that builds marital unity. We’ll also discuss short-term and long-term financial goals you should be considering and ways to meet those goals, as well as such things as separate/shared accounts, sharing financial responsibilities, and creating a household budget.
Presented by John Duyck
John Duyck is a parishioner at St. Joseph Parish and a licensed CPA in the State of Michigan. He has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with majors in Accounting and Economics, and a Master’s of Business Administration concentrating in Finance. He worked as a Tax Manager at Deloitte in Detroit, Michigan, and as a Director in the Tax Department of Kellogg Company for over 25 years. He currently works in the Tax Planning Department of Dart Container in Mason, Michigan. His goal is to retire before age 60 and develop a financial coaching ministry to share with his local parish and on a traveling basis.
Feb 18: Love Languages
This month we will help couples learn to communicate better and show our love for each other in ways that the other understands. Based on the book, "The 5 Love Languages," by Gary Chapman, this presentation will show how to speak your spouse's primary love language -- quality time, words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, or physical touch.
